1. Three Acts  Tell video news stories as real life dramas, in three acts.   Of course you don’t label the three acts, but let it flow the way we actually understand life:  a) situation or crisis arises, 2) struggle and action, 3)  climax and resolution.
  2. Constant Suspense  Audiences need a reason every few seconds to stay with your story instead of switching to a different screen.   Suspense, when used properly, can keep audiences on your screen.
  3. Serial Storytelling   Most stories are one-off, and even when they are part of a ‘series’ there is little flow to the narrative.  A series needs to one story, not just five separate pieces on a topic.   My own idea of Serial Storytelling carefully integrates the three act approach, suspense, empathy, emotional involvement and self generating news value.   If you do this right, a series can bring you appointment viewing.  Here is my web page on Serial Storytelling.
